Your A-Level subject combination is the most important decision you make when registering for JUPEB or IJMB. It decides which degree courses you can enter at 200 Level.
Start from your degree, not your favourite subjects
Work backwards. Pick the course you want to study at university, then choose the three subjects that course requires.
Common combinations
- Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing: Biology, Chemistry, Physics
- Engineering: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
- Law: Literature in English, Government, CRS/IRS or History
- Accounting: Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or Business Studies
- Computer Science: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Economics

Check your O'Level credits too
Universities also look at your O'Level results. Make sure you have credits in the subjects your course requires. English Language and Mathematics are almost always compulsory.
Keep a backup course in mind
Competitive courses like Medicine have limited places. Choose a combination that also qualifies you for a related course, for example Biochemistry or Nursing alongside Medicine.
Tip: Departments can set their own conditions. Always confirm with your target university before you register.
